Govt endorses seven projects worth Tk 30.75b

The government on Tuesday in Dhaka endorsed seven development projects at a combine cost of Tk 30.75 billion.

Presided over by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved the projects at its meeting.

After the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan told journalists that the ECNEC endorsed seven projects where Tk 21.33 billion would be provided by the government from its own exchequer while the remaining Tk 9.42 billion from the external resources as the project aid.

Among the projects, five are fresh schemes and the rest two are revised ones.

The approved fresh projects are: Rehabilitation of water supply system at Rajshahi metropolitan city project at 934.5 million, Improvement of the sanitation system at Khulna city at Tk 23.34 billion, Cotton technology transfer and research development at Tk 635.5 million, Mujibnagar irrigation development at Tk 2.31 billion and Setting up of Sheikh Rasel digital lab (2nd phase) project at Tk9.38 billion.

The ECNEC revised the projects including Income support programme for the poor (3rd revised) project at rediuucing the cost by Tk 4.60 billion to Tk 19.80 billion and My home, my farm (Amar bari amar khamar) (4th revised) project slashing the cost by Tk 1.25 billion to Tk 78.85 billion.

Ministers, Planning Commission members and secretaries of the ministries concerned attended the ECNEC meeting.
