'Esho Shobai' distributes Iftar on behalf of Evaly

“Esho Shobai”, on behalf of E-commerce-based marketplace Evaly, has recently distributed Iftar items and food among 4,000 people in 1,000 families.

To help destitute and unemployed people during the Corona pandemic, the organization started a digital initiative to which prominent people from information technology, business and economy, and cultural fields in the country responded and came forward. The e-commerce site evaly.com.bd was one of its sponsors.

Esho Shobai’s activities have begun by distributing food items and Iftar products in Ramadan among unemployed and helpless people of the 1,000 families in Dhaka, Gaibandha, Kishoreganj, Rangpur and more. The distribution is being ensured through several voluntary organizations including Amal Foundation, Amar Food, Ovizatrik Foundation, Bidyananda, Mission Save Bangladesh and more.

Didarul Alam Sunny, one of its co-entrepreneurs and director of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS), said, “Information technology could play an important role in resolving the ongoing crisis by ensuring proper use and distribution of resources. With that in mind, we started working on this fully online and digital-based social enterprise. We have over a hundred individuals from different professions who, through a song released on YouTube recently, called on others to come forward and stand by the distressed. We are collecting grants and distributing among the financially affected people and those who have lost their jobs in Corona situation. We are also adhering to social distance while doing this. Accepting our grants digitally has also resulted in transparency in our activities. More than Tk. 17 lakh has already been collected from about 81 individuals and institutional donors besides Evaly.”

Meanwhile, Mohammad Russell, Managing Director and CEO of Evaly, said, “As a private enterprise, Evaly always holds responsibility for the country and the nation. We want to come forward with the best of our capacity during this crisis period and request others to do the same. Esho Shobai is collecting and distributing grants digitally which is really transparent. And as an e-commerce organization, we are happy to be working with them. We all should work together to overcome the crisis by using digital media and by maintaining physical distance. In this Ramadan, we should all stand by others according to our ability.”
