The country's customs authority will release import-export goods on a 'limited scale' during the general holidays, declared by the government until April 04, to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Monday instructed all the customs houses and stations across the country in this regard.

The order, issued by second secretary customs (policy) Mohammad Mehrazul Alam Shamrat, said the official activities in customs houses and stations will continue on a limited scale during the general holidays.

The instruction has been issued to keep an uninterrupted flow of import of essential products, emergency medical services and other service products as well as smooth operation of export and EPZs (Export Processing Zones).

Industrial raw materials and products and services imported by government, non-government and autonomous bodies would also be released after customs assessment in the holidays.

Customs assessment and other official work will continue on a limited scale during the holidays.
