The Planning Commission and Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority will conduct a piloting of business continuity plan (BCP) among the industries located in two economic zones aiming to strengthen resilience in the business sector.
The BCP will cover disaster and climate risk identification, risk mitigation options and capacity development for risk-informed development.
The programming division of the commission signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the BEZA in this regard at the NEC premises on Monday.
The aim of the MoU is to provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate joint initiatives for piloting BCP in selected economic zones under BEZA management for strengthening resilience in the business sector and promote risk-informed development, said a press statement issued by the division.
Under the MoU, the National Resilience Programme (NRP) of the division will provide technical support for piloting BCP in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar located in Mirsarai and Sitakundo and Meghna Industrial Economic Zone in Narayanganj.
The BCP will contribute towards generation of knowledge for risk-informed investment and provide clear guidance on the business continuity under disaster and crisis.
Mohammed Efran Sharif, Executive Member (Planning and Development), BEZA and Khandker Ahsan Hossain, Chief, Programming Division, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
