The leaders of BIMSTEC have urged FBCCI President Md. Shafiul Islam to take necessary steps for arranging a 'Trade and Investment Forum' of the member countries.
BIMSTEC (The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectorial Technical and Economic Cooperation) leaders made the request on Wednesday during a meeting with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President at the latter’s office in Dhaka.
The delegation, led by BIMSTEC Secretary General M Shahidul Islam, also talked about SAFTA and other related issues with the apex trade body leader.
FBCCI President Md. Shafiul Islam briefed the mission on the current economic development of the country, said a press release.
He also emphasised on introduction of 'Travel Card' for the business people while visiting the BIMSTEC member countries.
BIMSTEC Director Pankaj Hazarika and FBCCI Secretary General (In Charge) Hussain Jamil also participated in the discussion.
