The central bank has asked scheduled banks to restrain from giving services to the unauthorised institutions that provides services as payment service provider (PSP) or payment service operator (PSO).
The Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued a notification in this connection on Thursday and asked the chief executives of all the scheduled banks, mobile financial service (MFS) providers, PSP and PSO not to deal with such unauthorised payment service providers to avert unwanted situation.
"We've already been informed about such unauthorised activities by some illegal payment service providers," a BB senior official told the FE while replying to a query.
It's cautionary message for both banks and public for avoiding unwanted incidence in future, according to the central banker.
"The business entities, which are interested to provide payment services, will have to take licence from the central bank," he noted.
He also said the central bank has already sought applications from the interested parties to issue the licences.
