Bangladesh is set to become the seventh country to send technical interns to Japan.

To this effect, Dhaka and Tokyo inked a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) on Monday, said a media release by Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment.

Visiting Secretary in Charge to the ministry Nomita Halder and many high officials of Japan signed the MoC on behalf of their respective sides.

The Japan side comprised of Vice Minister for Policy Coordination of Ministry for Health, Labour and Welfare, Jinichi Miyano, Administrative Vice Minister of Ministry of Justice Hiromu Kurokawa and Director General of Consular Affairs Bureau of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan Koichi Aiboshi.

Bangladesh Ambassador in Japan Rabab Fatima along with other high officials were present during the signing.

The MoC will enhance the opportunity for technical interns to acquire Japanese skills and knowledge said Nomita Halder.

After completing internship they will get jobs in Japan for three to five years in different secretors.

They also can contribute to the development of the country to use their technical knowledge at home, she said.

She also said Bangladesh can send skilled and semi-skilled workers to Japan as they have a shortage of work-force in different sectors beside the technical one.
