ADP implementation 37.09pc in eight months

The implementation rate of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) during July-February period of the current fiscal year (FY20) was 37.09 per cent with an expenditure of Tk 797.85.86 billion.

Planning Minister MA Mannan revealed the latest progress of ADP implementation after weekly ECNEC meeting on Tuesday, reports BSS.

The minister informed that implementing agencies could spend Taka 707.72 billion during the July-February period of the last fiscal year (FY19) with an utilisation rate of 39.13 per cent.

The implementation agencies has spent Taka 90.14 billion higher during this period of current fiscal compared to the corresponding period of previous fiscal year.

Tuesday's ECNEC meeting approved a total of nine projects, seven new projects and two revised projects, involving Taka 241.13 billion.

The planning minister said out of the total project cost of the nine projects, Tk 61.51 billion will come from the Government of Bangladesh, Taka 22.13 billion from the concerned organisation’s own fund while the rest of Taka 157.49 billion as project assistance.

Ministers and state ministers attended the meeting while Planning Commission members and secretaries concerned were present at the ECNEC meeting.

Replying to a question on the possible impact of novel corona virus on the country’s economy, he said that the global economy is experiencing some turmoil due to the COVID-19.

“There might be some impact on our economy, but we can’t say now to what extent the impact would be,” he said.

Ministers and State Ministers attended the meeting while Planning Commission members and secretaries concerned were present.
