“The expatriates are contributing a lot to socio-economic development of the region and the country as well through sending their foreign remittance,” said Fazlul Karim, Joint Secretary of the ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment, while presenting his keynote paper in a seminar in Rajshahi on Wednesday.
Rajshahi District Administration organised the seminar styled “Skill Development and Awareness for Overseas Employment” at its conference hall in association with the ministry, reports BSS.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton addressed the opening session of the daylong seminar as chief guest with Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque in the chair.
Fazlul Karim said various technical and vocational educational institutions including Technical Training Centre and Women Technical Training Centre are imparting training to unemployed people for making them competent in various productive fields including the overseas employment.
“We provided many women who intended to go abroad with different trainings including vocational and housekeeping and many of them got jobs,” he added.
Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training under the ministry has been extending support to the training programme.
In his remarks, Mayor Liton mentioned that skill development is very important towards overseas employment as there is no alternative to it to earn more income in abroad. Creating more public awareness is also important for safe migration and the working fields as well.
