38 NRBs to get CIP status

The government has selected 38 non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to award commercially important person (CIP) status for their significant role in the country’s economy.

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (MoEWOE) will hand over CIP-2018 cards to the awardees on December 18 at the occasion of International Migration Day-2020, according to a press release, issued by the MoEWOE on Monday.    

Every year the MoEWOE gives CIP status in 3 categories-----direct investment to the country’s industries, sending the highest amount of remittance through a legal channel and importing products from Bangladesh.    

This year one has been selected for CIP status for investment in the industry whereas 30 for sending the highest amount of remittances through a legal channel and seven for importing goods.

Among them, Kallol Ahmed has been selected as CIP for investment in industry in the country. He is from the United Kingdom.

Kamal Ahmed, Md Selim, Nurul Alam, Md Sohel Rana, Marufa Ahmed, Belal Ahmed and Abul Kashem have been selected for the status for importing Bangladeshi goods to their destination countries.

Remaining 30 NRBs are Md Mahtabur Rahman, Md Waliur Rahman, Md Touhidul Alam, Md Mahabub Alam, Zakir Hossain, Md Emadur Rahman, Abu Nayem Md Touhidul Alam Chowdhury, Md Monir Hossain, Jesmin Aktar, Ripon Dutta, Nigar Sultana, Nehal Roy Rahim, SM Yusuf, Abul Kalam, Mostafa Kamal, Md Nur Khan, Md Abdul Rahim, Kazi Sarwar Habib, Md Sydur Rahman, Md Adana Imam, Lutfur Rahman Munshi, Syan Jubayer, Md Akkas Mia, Md Mosaddek Chowdhury, Fakhrul Islam, SM Parvez Tomal, Nurul Islam, Md Eyasin Chowdhury, Md Jahangir Alam and Ashrafur Rahman.

The CIPs enjoy various services given by the government as per the CIP election guidelines.
