19,916 auto-rickshaws were registered with Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) across the country in the first eight months of the current calendar year.
Of them, 6,684 got registration during January-August 2019 in Dhaka, according to the transport regulator.
A total of 21,638 auto-rickshaws were registered alone in 2018, while it was 9,168 in 2017, the BRTA data showed.
