Ten cos account for 29pc transactions

Ten most traded companies accounted for 29 per cent of transactions on the prime bourse on Thursday, with the National Tubes making it to the top of the turnover chart for the third straight session.

Investors continued to show their appetite for National Tubes amid rumours that work order has been given to the company to install new pipelines all over the country and the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has refunded the advance tax to the National Tubes.

The National Tubes, however, said this news is not authentic and the company authority does not have any idea about the source of news.

According to the DSE data, about 1.19 million shares of National Tubes were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 193 million, which was 5.01 per cent of the day's total turnover of Tk 3.85 billion.

The company's share price fell 8.65 per cent to close at Tk 155.20 on Thursday after a recent price surge.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at negative Tk 0.96 for July 2018-March 2019 as against negative Tk 2.24 for July 2017-March 2018.

The net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 0.03 for July 2018-March 2019 as against negative Tk 1.26 for July 2017-March 2018.

The net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 175.07 as on March 31, 2019 and Tk 193.62 as on June 30, 2018.

The National Tubes, listed on the DSE in 1989, disbursed 10 per cent stock dividend in 2018.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 316.56 million and authorised capital is Tk 1.0 billion while total number of securities is 31.65 million.

The sponsor-directors own 0.05 per cent stake in the company, while the government owns 51 per cent, institutional investors 20.14 per cent and the general public 28.81 per cent as of August 31, 2019, the DSE data show.

Fortune Shoes came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 189 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 10 per cent to close at Tk 33.30 each.

Square Pharmaceuticals clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 145 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 226.90 each, losing 0.83 per cent.

Monno Jute Stafflers emerged the fourth, with shares worth Tk 130 million changing hands. The company's share shed 6.25 per cent to close at Tk 1600.20 each

Beacon Pharma notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 80 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 25 each, losing 3.10 per cent.

The turnover of JMI Syringes was Tk 79 million. The company's share fell 5.81 per cent to close at Tk 392.60 each.

The United Power featured a turnover of Tk 74 million. The power generation company's share price slumped 3.41 per cent to close at Tk 320 each.

The turnover of Legacy Footwear was Tk 73 million. The company's share lost 3.84 per cent to close at Tk 125.30 each.

Monno Ceramic featured a turnover of Tk 72 million. The company's share closed at 144.90 each, plunging by 9.27 per cent over the previous session.

The National Polymer also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 69 million changing hands. The company's share rose 2.65 per cent to close at Tk 100.70 each.
