BNP wants to create anarchy: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has alleged that BNP wants to create anarchy across the country centring the forthcoming parliamentary polls.

“A peaceful environment is prevailing in the country. But BNP wants to create unrest centring the upcoming national polls. BNP will not be given any chance to create chaos in the country,” he said at a rally at Chawkbazar in city’s old part area on Saturday.

Later, the AL general secretary distributed leaflets in the area on the sixth day of their week-long mass contact programme, reports BSS.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said the common people will give a befitting reply if they (BNP) resort to any terrorist and violent activities like 2014 to foil the next polls.

He said there is no political crisis in the country. But BNP has the crisis as their leaders blame each other for being ‘agents’ of the government. Besides, they create violence at their own rallies, he added.

Quader said, “BNP couldn’t wage any movement in the last 10 years for 10 minutes. They also will not be able to wage any movement against the government in the next one month. BNP has now been turned into a dead river and tide will never come in the dead river. That is why they are taking preparation to create chaos centering the polls.”

The ruling party general secretary urged the party activists to remain alert against any conspiracy and to resist them (BNP) along with the countrymen if they create any sabotage like 2014.”

Regarding the comments of BNP’s senior leader Barrister Moudud Ahmad on movement, Quader said, “He (Moudud) has been talking from August about changes. But, the people have not seen any changes till now. We don’t know when the ‘one month’ will end.”

He said, “BNP chief Begum Zia went to the court to protect her residence in Cantonment as per the advice of Barrister Moudud. But she lost her home according to the court verdict. And now he is giving advices to Mirza Fakhrul.”

About comments of BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, the minister said BNP is now a self declared bankrupt and a corrupt organization through amending the clause 7 of their party’s constitution.

The AL leader said, “We should work together to bring the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in power again for the continuation of the ongoing development projects. There is no alternative to Sheikh Hasina to protect the independence of the country and the spirit of the Liberation War.”

He urged the residents of the city’s old part to vote for ‘Boat’, the election symbol of Awami League, for better livelihood.

AL Organising Secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, Science and Technology Secretary Engineer Abdus Sabur, AL City South unit President Abul Hasnat and General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, among others, spoke in the rally with local lawmaker Hazi Mohammad Selim in the chair.
